Welcome to the Department of Global Health & Sustainability Studies. We specialise in public health, monitoring & evaluation, and occupational health and safety.

Our programmes carry a work-related, problem-solving orientation — built for practising professionals in the public and private sectors who need expertise they can apply immediately.

From six-month postgraduate diplomas to the two-year MPhil in Public Health, every programme is taught with the rigour of research and the urgency of practice.

About the department

Who we are.

Part of the School of Public Service and Governance, the department specialises in public health, monitoring & evaluation, and occupational health and safety — with programmes that emphasise practical training and a work-related, problem-solving orientation.

Applicants need a bachelor’s degree (minimum second class lower); lower classifications complete the Postgraduate Certificate in Public Administration with ≥50% passes. Foreign qualifications require GTEC verification.

What is the duration of your degree programmes?

Undergraduate programmes are usually 4 years. Masters programmes run 1 or 2 years, depending on the programme. Confirm unique timelines with the department secretariat.
