The School of Technology and Social Sciences brings together the parts of GIMPA that study how things are built and how people live with them. Computer scientists, economists and communication scholars share a single faculty, a single common room and, increasingly, single pieces of work.
A health informatics system is a technical artefact and a public-health decision at the same time. An energy tariff is an equation and a household budget. The school is organised so that neither half is taught as though the other did not exist.
Fifteen programmes run from a diploma in applied computer science through to a PhD in information systems, across three departments. Most are taught at Greenhill Campus in Achimota, with evening and weekend options for officers already in post.
Faculty publish on information systems in developing economies, energy and financial economics, cybersecurity and digital forensics, development communication and hospitality management. Doctoral seminars are open to researchers from across the Institute.
