The School of Public Service and Governance is the direct heir of GIMPA's founding mandate. When the Institute opened in 1961 as a joint project of the Government of Ghana and the United Nations, its purpose was to build the administrative capability of a newly independent state.
That purpose still shapes the school. Its students are district officers, ministry staff, diplomats, and health administrators — many of them studying while holding the job.
Public Management and International Relations, Development and Policy Studies, and Global Health and Sustainability — covering the machinery of the state, the analysis of policy, and the systems that carry it into people's lives.
Alongside the degrees, the school runs the Institute's long-standing training programme for serving public officers.
